DTidmarsh writes: Hi all, on Sunday I had a club competition at Forest Farm Evesham with my local fishing club. I thought I would write a little about the pool and how we got on. Previous to going Sunday I had look for information about the pool on the internet and could not find any information what so ever.. When I finally got to the pool at 8am I realised why. The pool was situated just outside Evesham (I will post the exact location later in the week) a very quite spot with just a small sign saying fishing on the opposite side of the road. A group of lads from the pub had been there for a practice earlier in the week two of them with bags of over 100lbs, so I was expecting a great days fishing. I drew peg 17 which was on one of the long straights. We started the competition at 9am and fished through until 2pm. Taking a look around my peg when I first got there I noticed that the early morning sun had already brought the fish to the surface. I had 2 nice features either side of me in the margins one an old fallen down branch and the other a over hanging bush. When the whistle was blown I potted in a combination of Sweet Corn and Castors into the margins and then decided I would fish straight out in front of me to see if I could get the fish feeding up in the water. I started with a shallow rig(on the pole about 11 meters out) fishing strawberry Corn and catapulting 4-5 castors at over my float every 3-4 minutes. This is a great method of getting fish feeding up in the water. Around 10 minutes into the match my float went down, my pole swung round and kept swinging until my line broke Ahhhhhhh! So I re-rigged and played about with depth and baits trying to get a bite. For me all in all a slow day, about half way through the contest I landed 7 1/2 Carp(in pictures). I think the main problem was the heat, the fish where cruising around the surface all day and because there was very few silver fish in the pool I didn’t have much action. On the other side of the pool however some people where catching. The winning weight of the day was 65lbs with 9 fish. I have attached some more pictures above. If you have fished this venue please let us know how you got on in the comments section. Or if you have any advice for me it is most apprecaited. Thanks, Darren
