Hi everyone!
I have a question not exactly concerning the topic of this section but I haven't found a category dealing with my question.. ;)
I'm James and I will start fly-fishing this year. I already bought some equipment but especially the range of fly fishing reels is confusing me...
One of my mates recommended Z-Reels (http://www.z-reels.de/home.html) but before buying one I'd just like to make sure that it is the right choice..
Does anyboby know Z-Reels? Any experience? Any comments? Anybody knows where I can buy them in the UK? (or anywehere else?)
Thanks for your help..
James

Finding the right site...

I guess I am growing tired of the same old type of sites that have boring cams. They seem to have the same old ugly girl doing nothing and just taking money from everyone. I know a lot of people that have sites put up these affiliates and I do myself ...

Darren says
I'll take a look at that one, the one I've got at the moment is not too bad but after about 8 meters its starts to give back ache.. :(

Darren
I have problems over 6 metres but I do find that pole hooks do help me a lot
Though at present I need a new section (number 4 or 5 can't remember) for my 13m pole but everything is conspiring to stop me getting one

ie
new car for wife
new alternater for my car
new dehumidifier for the house
all expensive and take priority

Very interesting that, the name of some of these maggots might be worth mentioning the standard maggot white, red or bronze being the norm then there are Pinkies these are small pink(hench there name)maggots best used on canals and Squats also another small maggot that is more at home on the canals but there is one more that is less know called Gozzers these are larger maggots that are white in colour and are bred on chickens liver or heart (i think)but one thing is for sure they make the best maggots you can use....maggots are and have always been the bait for fishing and if you choose the right ones for the type of fishing you are doing then you will reap the rewards.

I think pike fishing is very much a winter sport and that's why people go for them at this time of year but if you want big pike then you need the food they hunt for in abundance that's why Trout fisheries are so good....deep with plenty of fish to go at and it is no surprise that the big pike come from these waters with reservoirs being the best bet...the british record stands at over 47lb from such a place in Wales (Langdedford....spelling )but bigger have said to have been landed with reports of a real monster of 50lb plus being caught in scotland (no proof though).

Pike of 20lb plus are good size in canals and rivers and a 30 is a very big one but for the biggest i would say without dought the lochs,Reservoirs and trout fisheries are the place to target.
