   Bass fishing In Canada and the U.S. is a multi Million dollar a year industry. Can fish tournaments where the Prize money can be in the 10 of thousands of dollars. I fish one or two tournaments a year. My partner RJ is heavy into tourney fishing. Bass can be caught in many ways, casting body baits,flipping lead jig heads with a rubber creature attached, Drop shot-ting a plastic minnow or plastic worm.There are 2 types of Bass, the Large Mouth,and Small mouth.
   Small Mouth Bass

   

   Large Mouth Bass

   

   Weeds are a favorite place for Large mouth, fishing from only a few inches of weed covered water to deep weeds in 12 to 15 feet of water below are places that we would look for

   Bass Boats are the ultimate in fishing boats, reach speeds up to 80 MPH
   With up to 300 horse power engines

   

   

   

   They have a very shallow draft and are able to move around,with the front electric trolling motor in water 12 inches of water, Large casting decks make it easy to flip the weeds

   All fish that are caught and weighed in are put in a live release boat ,then taken out to various parts of the river/lake and released

   This is the only picture i could find of the release boat

   

   I could post more pictures of the tournament but they all look the same(LOL)

   once more phil great photos mate and them boats are pretty impressive....is there much money in these tournaments if you win or frame? i would have thought so because those boats must cost a packet..

   I know nothing yet know everything...learning is a life thing!

   The boat can run up to $70,000.00 US with most running around $50,000.00 US,if you win major tournaments,the money starts to rolling in,sponsorship, endorsements, TV commercials,fishing show appearances, Magazine articles then you go on the lecture tour... so by winning a few tourneys you get both fame and Fortune. In the U.S. if you win top angler, it worth well over 5 million dollars(U.S.)that being said it's pretty hard to do.The tourneys I fish if you win ,you get about $5000.00 Canadian, and qualifies you for the end of the year Classic where you compete against the top 40 fishermen,for a new Ranger Bass boat Worth $50,000.00.In our tournament serious there are about 90 boats

   Very impressive...not to sure on the exchange rate these days but i guess that makes one of those boats around £35,000 and we moan about the price of bait in this country.

   Phil once more thanks for answering my questions mate,i am not into tournaments (match fishing in this country)but i do like to know about them particularly in other countries like Canada/usa ext it is all mind blowing stuff to hear these things you mention and as you state it must be very hard to become a top guy in those tournaments...i will stick with my pleasure fishing i think...i can't afford the fuel to put into one of those babies....many thanks Phil!
