Talking McGregors Pond Chesterfield

Mc Gregors Pond
Turnoaks Lane
OFF Britannia Way
off Storforth Lane Chesterfield

Note there is no access off the A61 to the industrial estate

This lake was a Private Lake of a wealthy Heavy machinery Contractor in the 50's and 60's it is not a "Nature Reserve" there is FREE fishing here and catches can be fantastic
Known catches this year include Carp to 20+ lbs nets of Tench in excess of 90lbs there is a good head of Perch to 4lb no recorded catches of other fish at all although there apparently are some Pike none known as being caught for over a year

The lake is very shallow 4-8 foot and is not wardened for fishing

It has been rumoured that the lake has been netted and all the choice fish removed to raise money for the council money grabbers

It WAS a Tench and Carp fishery
Big enough Carp and also Tench on the pole (my lad pulled out 30 in one session up to 4lb)

but since it was netted it's a sprat water
but as for waggler yes but it was only about 4-5 foot deep except right out in the middle

It was netted a while back with most of the fish going into Holmebrook Valley Lake. There are some of the bigger fish still in there and some of the locals have been and had some of the Carp away from Wingerworth Lido a good friend of mine recognised a Lido fish he had caught with a McGregors background. A sad state of affairs to say the least
