I have finaly decided to get a new pole and upgrade from my shimano technium that is that first model.....so not exactly the newest pole out.
So i have had my pole for over 2 years and its getting too heavy and not very ridgid and at times i am finding 13m too short. I have had 3 poles recomended to me so far but all have their problems, these are: -Shimano Forcemaster, 16m + 2x powertop 2's, cupping kit, pole holdall, a 2 year warranty at a cost of £349 (and the shop so would get it from works close with shimano so i know they will be reliable) -Sensas Crazy Power, 13m, + 2x carp top 3's, mini extension, full 8 tube holdall at £259 -Leeda Blue Diamond, 16m, + 1 match top 3 and 3x power top 2's, multi section cloth bag at £300 now here are the problems: -Shimano Forcemaster only 2 top 2's and no match top. and it is more expensive -Sensas Crazy Power don't know the 16m cost because the 13m is being sold cheap by my local tackle shop. and i dont know how good it is (because i know the forcemaster hasnt had a bad word put to it realy) -Leeda Blue Diamond once again i dont know how good it is because i have onlu just seen it today. so yeah any help would be great because i do not have a clue what to go for! any other recomendations would be good although it just adds to the list. cheers. |

Hey there, now then I have looked your poles on my favourite site, Home and I have to say I think the Leeda one is the better one of the three. Although I think its close between the Leeda and the Shimano.....
In the end I cant tell you which one is best, as I have neither..... lol. Buy both, you only live once! |

Personally and note I said PERSONALLY
I feel that when you start getting over 13m for a pole you need to decide "Do I really NEED a pole or a rod?" fishing over 52 feet (16m) away on a short line demands that the fish almost hook themselves as the strike distance at the butt end is microscopic. Just a point to consider that at that distance a waggler or leger might be a better option especially if you hook a large fish

The main advantage is fishing tight to islands or the far bank, also more sections to add if you hook a large fish. Both can be achieved with rods, i arnt a fan and wont go over 14 meters which i rarely fish anyway usually around 10m.

Ditto I will also add the stresses on your back holding such a pole are immense and one gust of wind can cripple you for ages As a Spinal Injury sufferer AND a Trained Nurse trust me on this one it's a simple fact and is irrespective of how heavy or light the pole might be
