Maver - Advice please

Hey guy's. I am a single minded Carp pole angler who has always stuck with my Preston poles. A mate of mine recommended that I look at a Maver pole as I am thinking of getting a new 13/14.5m. Anyone know what Magic Steps is please??

All manufacturers use their own 'buzz words' so if you could help me I would be greatful!!

i wouldnt recomend a maver pole if your new to pole fishing thay are very light and do break easy in the wrong hands. there are loads of poles out there that are as good if not better than maver ones at half the price. i now have a diawa strongbeam 16m pole, its a very strong pole and can be bought for £350 - £400, with 3 top kits. any MAP pole is worth a look at, there is a new diawa range out thay also will be worth a look. i have seen a good few maver poles smashed to bits on carp waters, and only every seen one diawa one snap, but that was bad angling rather than the pole in my eyes. never used a preston pole so cant comment one them. anyway hope this helps abit.

Thanks Warrior. I would like to say that I am new to poles but unfortunately I have been fishing them for many years. I will take note of your advice as a fellow poleman and look at the M.A.P and Daiwa poles, I have always fished with Preston Inn's as I am a bit of a tackle tart but I am certain that there are better poles out there than what I have. I will avoid Maver on your advice, like you with Preston, I have never fished a Maver and it's good to have someone tell you their opinion. My friend (the one that recommended the Maver) is primarily a rod and reel man but fishes the pole when out with me (to fit in I think) so his advice and opinions aren't as valid.

What's your view on going plus of 14.5m? I think un-necessary but again it's one of those grey areas where I fish and wish I had that bit extra to reach a fallen tree/feature etc.

Thanks chap ....

i dont normaly fish above 13 meter to be honist, and dont see the point in fish for 5 hours in a match having to ship in and out 16 meters, dont make sence, as you can catch fish under your feet? i fished against some top anglers this year, and thay all sat on a long pole? and i was catching at 7 meter. i cant see any advantage in sitting on 16 meters of pole

Yeah I agree mate, I usually fish at 9-12.5 but my pole has the capability for 14m. Most of the nice sized fish that I have caught this year have been at the lower of those distances, sometime near a snag at the side of me a few feet out.

Cheers for the advice though.
