shimarno rods and poles are very good bits of kit, but one word of advice dont go chucking out a method feeder with a medium action feeder rod, you may get away with a small method feeder, but some times that all you need.

Hi
I also use one Shimano rods & reel. It's good.
I've already use it to catch many kind of fishs. For my own experience, you should improve your fishing techniques rather than thinking of your rod.
In my place they do some time set up a fishing contest by using the smallest rod & line to catch a huge fish. I've myself already used my shrimp rod, 1.2m with small fishing line to catch a 7.2kg catfish & of cause you need much time to land the fish.
For the rod & reel companies, they produce many kind of rods & reels for each kind of fish but if you run with them, sooner or later you will die :-).
