Exclamation Starter Poles- HELP NEEDED!!!!!

hi guys, i recently took fishing up again after a 5 yr gap and was thinking of giving pole fishing a go as it has always been a method i have wanted to try. the only thing is i'm not very up to date with the pole fishing scene so to speak and would greatly appreciate any help and advice on which pole to buy for a begginer and maybe what elastic to use with etc. etc.

tight lines

marc

for that money its easy the SHIMANO TECHNIUM XTA no contest mate, there about £220 you can get a good deal at Fosters of Birmingham - the complete fishing tackle specialists
for me theres nothing that will even compare to it in the sub - £300 range. and 908g at 13 meter very usable at all lenghts.

dave what pole did you get? 16 meter pole for £100 seems very cheep?

Yeah i Agree,
16m for £100 is an amazing deal if it is as good as you say it is

I got the Shimano Nexave 11m pole, Best pole ive had under £200

Handled commercial carp up to around 7 or 8 lb well and also, Just soft enough for great silver sport . . .

I Now Have an aqualite which is perfect in every aspect . . But retails around £400 . . .

Good Luck!

the elastic is the same idea as what line you use for a rod
i have 2 top sections one is a light elastic for up to 3lb line & i have another heavy line for carp..if you are very unsure about pole elastication & what line to use i did write a thing about it on here

i hope this helps

silver fish no 6 elastic 5lb main line 4lb line size 18 hook
carp summer time no 16 elastic 10lb straight through size 12 hook

this is a general way of setting up a pole but it all depends what sort of fishing you like
