Help choosing a nice knife

Hello,

My brother is a keen fisherman - both sea and fly - and it is his birthday soon. I was thinking of getting him a good fishing knife as he hasn't got one.

Does anyone have any recommendations? As it is his birthday I'd like to get something that looks nice as well as hold a good sharp edge and won't corrode with sea water.

He does equal amounts of sea and fly fishing so a knife suitable for both is the ideal.

Cheers!

Yeah - hope he has a nice birthday.
Instead of just one knife - what your probley best getting is a kit of knives.
You should include in it:
A Cleaver Knife.
A Pairing Knife.
A Filleting Knife.
The cleaver knife should be big, fat and sharp, and the pairing and filleting knife(s) should be long, thin and sharp.
I also agree with Jake that you should look around for what is selling the most.

Well i don't know about him but his brother does sea fish cause in the main post he said ''that won't corodate in sea water'' - and why would you be looking for something like that in freshwater?
So yeah - sea fishing.

Tricky picking proper knife

If your brother is a serious angler he will know what type of knife he wants, unless you know for sure you may be buying a gift that sits in his tackle box, been there done that. Since he likes different types of fishing, he probably doesnt keep all his fish, does catch and release. Touching the fish can cause the fish harm so a tool that releases the catch without touching it is a great way to go, I recently saw a new hook release system called the Larchy, I think its from Germany, very slick tool, you can see its video where I saw it on Fishing Video Network a good release tool is something every serious angler should and usually does have.

Thank you for the link. I ussaly just use a fishing towel as it does harm the fish - touching them.
