good beginners sea rod

i have done a lot of pike and trout fishing, but i have moved house and now live on the coast of ireland. i want to take up fishing from the harhour pier. i heed to get a good rod and reel, that doesnt cost much bout £120 max. anyone give me any brand names and info. thanks all

you should try a shakespeare brand as there rods and reels are perfect for beginers and dont cost to much. i think my first rod was a shakespeare.

Ron Thompson carbo stick twin tipped is a good starting choice, costs around £80

anything too cheap is somethimes too stiff or too heavy, obivously you have to pay a lot for quality.

last summer i went on holiday and needed a rod for a spot of pier fishing so i opted a 'shakespeare Contender LS', it cost me 25 quid only, i have some much more expensive rods but i still would recommend this for harbour and pier fishing if money is an issue. Its well made, and i caught alot of fish on it. I believe for its price in the cheapo range, it was considered to be among the best by sea angler magazine and capable of competing with the more expensive rods. i personally would then spend the remaining cash on a high quality reel such as daiwa or shimano.

I have a variety of Rods
Themost expensive cost me £40 around 12 years ago it's a Dam 5m Surf Rod (it'd cost a bit more now)
I use a Pair of Ron Thompsons which only cost £20 each and are light and just right for me
Then I have a Decathlon Telescopic rod for light sea work

Shakespere are in my opinion, the best brand for sea fishing begginers.

My first begginers set was around £30 from Trago Mills, and included everything i needed - rod, reel, starter tackle and begginers info book.
