southampton report.
its febuary,- south coast is devoid of fish,( well almost)
but me and a m8 fished anyway. at a popular winter match venue which has shown poor results of late even when the flounder were supposed to be there. here;- ![]() ![]() i fished for about 5 hours over high water coz at low water there's no water , 'tis a shallow muddy estuary which might have a flounder or 2 in at any other time of the year. unsurpriseingly we blanked. and on that note as the tide ebbed away i left to fish town quay over low water for an hour or 2 . to avoid a total blank. town quay - short pier in southamptons dock area. fished for just long enough to avoid the rain & and to catch a pout then went home. __________________ |

I have never shore fished in salt water... thanks for the pictures, I see from your set up ..it's not at all different from Carp fishing.I do fish Land lock Salmon from my boat in Lake Ontario here in Canada... and in the spring and fall I fish for Steelhead(rainbow trout) and salmon using a 13 foot noodle rod, light action and a centre pin reel loaded with 6 pound mono line.... when you are fishing like the pictures above do you use those big rods all the time??
forgive all the questions but that type of fishing is new to me. Phil |
