Where do i start-Help!!

First timer at sea fishing here. Last year i took a holiday to rhodes, kremasti.Like most people do when they go on holiday i bought a cheap sea fishing kit while i was over there(crap)

Anyway i fished of a small break water with bread paste and had one tiny fish.
However some greek man who couldnt speak english pointed out to sea. I guessed that i needed to go out further but didnt have the gear. Im going to the same place again this year and wondering how is should approach it first- dont have a clue on baits, hooks, leads and line. Ive got a 11ft power ledger rod i was thinking about taking that.
Thanks

Hi Martin

1st/
do not bother taking that rod it is not worth the extra cash it will cost for a airport safe rod tube and the extra cash it will cost you to check it in

2nd/ find a boat (Google for boat fishing in Kremasti) that will take you out and they will provide bait tackle and usually food and drink

I usually only take a small telescopic whip to fit inside my suitcase and fish how you've just described although with practice you do get more and bigger fish

If you plan to Sea fish in the UK then you do need to buy Sea Fishing Tackle Couse stuff won't hack it and is too expensive to smash up like that

NOT ALWAYS

I use a 13foot unbranded match rod I KNOW it is the identical blank to a Diawa 13 foot match rod (put the two side by side, colour, markings, pattern all the same)

the only real difference the Branded one cost in the low £100 the other cost £25

that's an off the wall example but something such as Ron Hill is cheap but it is still an excellent rod got to the Canaries there most of the guy's use them for sea matches
