Finally!

hey guys i have finaly had my first chance to go sea fishing.
truth be told it was awsome, thought only fishing off the beach i loved it. id otn know what the differnce is from carp to sea but theres somethign there that makes it that little bit more enjoyable.
a short break through half term saw me depart for hopton-on-sea "on-sea" i thought to my self and immediatly packed some tackle and ratehr foolishly never having sea fished i packed a carp rod a few leds and i thought size 6 hooks would be big enough.
so the first night there saw me take to teh beach with raw chicken as bait a carp rod, size 6 hooks a small 3oz lead a rod rest and a simple coarse reel.
man i felt so newbie compared to the other guys fishing the beach, this one guy after about 30misn of me settign up made hsi way over in his florencent orange suit with a note book and a pen "hmm..." i thought to my self. when he finaly reached me he immediatly said "First time eh?" and ofcorse yes it was. he loked at my rod and asked me to pick it up and cast it with the lead teh carp rod started to bend witht he weight of the lead (that he had given me), he drew his pen and wrote something down on the paper next he looked at my bait beign raw chicken i felt a little embarrised at this point he wrote further thinsg down and so it goes on. later just befor he left he gave me this list that gave me the name and adress of a good local tackle shop (Gorleston tacke) and reccomended to me some tackle that he though i should have, so teh next day i wander down grabbed a few impact leads,a rig or 2, 25 lug and a 1lb block of squid.
later that evening i set off down the beach for the "turn of tide" witch is apprently the best time for fish, so i set up loaded the hooks with lug tipped witch squid, after a short wait i noticed the rod tip was shakign about in a differnt action than the waves battering my line, i reeled in and felt a resistance, then the guy next to me shouted "LIFT THE ROD" so i did he later explained this was to set teh hook as i finally got it in to my suprise i had a nice whiting about 1lb and later 2 codling.
to cut a logn story short on day 3 i blanked fishing into gale force winds and a rather big swell. (so i went out that nigth and got my beach caster rod and soem more lug - my rod is a storm something or other witch came with a reel antoehr impact lead spare spool, a few more rigs and a rod bag)
day 4 anrd the last day i had a nice cos to my suprise 3lb also tasted great later.

so i really cant wait till i go on my next trip near the sea.

any tips for the future welcome

thanks ,
Dan

Not Skeg itself
get up just North of Ingoldmells on the beach path lots of structures and it's quieter small school Bass and pout of course Doggies when the winds right in winter codling and pollack even some small coalies

check out with the local tackle shop up near Ingoldmells church as to what baits working
