Arrow The Begginers Guide To Night Fishing...

Hi guys. I have decided to add this thread - to help people with getting ready - and doing night fishing.

Introduction:
Catching a nice cod is a big challenge if you are new to the game. Even the most experianced anglers can find it difficult to hook a fish during the daylight, but there comes a time when everyone has a 95% chance of catching something...
When the sin drops and the sky turns black!

Why Night Fishing:
Fishing in daylight from a calm, shallow beach isn't that likly to be very productive, especilly when the sun is shining and the water is clear.
In the roughest of weathers - it's a completlyl different matter, but then the ironey is that these conditions can be so difficult to over-come - that even the most experianced night-fishers can't score.
The answer is to fish afetr dark. Especilly on those dark nights - the fish are bound to come in closer to the shore to feed.
The reason - they feel a little more protected and barve, if you will - under the cover of darkness whilst at the sma time - they're food sorces are abundant for the very same reason.
Night fishing dosn't mean that you have to fish all night - some st up a camp.

When Is The Best Time:
Many people say that the best time for catchin the bigger fish is mainly between 8pm and 2am - with the season timed to match a favorable tide. Smack bang in the middle - around 10pm should be perfect.
From 2am through to dawn and daylight - sucsess can be limited as the light appeares again.
The most productive tides at certain beaches can appear every fortnight - around midnight for maximised changes of cod.

Preparing For A Night Fishing Trip:
Sorting your bait and tackle is only a half of the chanllenge needed for a sucsesfull night fish, and it's often the smaller details that make a big difference in the night.
Being prepared for eventualities is vital - such as baits, tackle, clothing, shelter, food and drink etc. - are all the key priorities.
Some anglers take to much - the whole house for the night! And others - take to little - and end up scrounging of their mates.
Remember what you take - any left-overs - you'll have to carry back so be wise with the varity and quantity of things that you take.
It is very sensible to fish in groups or pairs - especlly on remote venues and try not to venture off on your own without someone else.
Taking a nap before you leave home for the night can be a very good idea - tireness can completly ruin a night's fishing.
Being prepared for bad weather is a very important factor - so don't just wear a T-shirt - stay warm and active all night. Always take a couple of spare jumpers or jackets - and it night be a good idea to take a blanket, too.

Setting Up Camp:
Take a tent, shelter or umrella. Preferably a tent that you can zip up - should it rain really hardly. Take lots of food and drink, too. Beding is also essential. Lightibg - is the most important factor. Head-lamps are the best peices of lighting for a night out fishing. LED's, head-lapsm are all good. Torches are essential when walking around - especilly off rocks or piers. Keep everything close to your light source - tackle, food catches - everything must be wear you can easily see it and get to it.

Top Tips For Making It A Sucsessfull Night:
  • Always hold the rod. Even if on a rod stand - keep hold if it - with your eys and hands.
  • A great aid to find out if you've had a bite -s to attach a star-light to your rod with bait cotton.
  • Always keep the hooks topped up with a sufficent amount of bait - and reel it in every half an hour of so to check and/or replace and add some bait.
  • Try to increase your chances by useing two rods - with different rigs and baits. Try to keep hold of that one, two - or keep it on a very sturdy, trushworthy rod stand.
I hope this information helps.
Tight Lines!
