Arrow A Guide To Fishing Off Gullies...

Hi guys. I have decieded to add this thread to inform people of the tips and safety precautions that should be taken when fishing from a gully.

SAFETY TIPS:
  • Always check high tide times and heights.
  • Let somebody know where you are and when you are expecting to be home.
  • Check for cut-off points.
  • Check the depth of the gullies before stepping into them.
  • Watch for any changing conditions in the water and weather.
  • Wear appropriate clothing and gripping footwear.
  • Always take a mobile phone, a watch and possibly a whistle.
TACKLE TIPS:
  • You will need a very strong and sturdy rod and reel.
  • Be prepared to loose any tackle and take extra.
  • Useing a single hook instead of a pennel can prevent you from being hung up.
  • Strong hooks are much better then soft-wired hooks.
  • Before each cast - check the point of the hook - ajust as nessecary and change regulary.
  • Attach a rubbing leader to your main-line to help drag the fish over rocks and plants.
  • Don't power cast unless you really think you should - an over-head thump or ob should be enough.
  • Rather then staying in one place - moving about will deffinatly increase your chances of hooking.
I hope this information helps.
Tight Lines!
