Lightbulb The Begginers Guide To The Terminology Of Sea Fishing...

Hi guys. I have decided to add this thread to help begginers in sea fishing get to grips with the basic and more complicated words that they may hear when fishing.

My Dictionary Of Sea Fishing:
Bait: Pieces of food such as crabs, worms and smaller fish that you add to your hook to attract the fish into your fishing area and make them bite.
Casting: Useing a rod and a reel to throw your line, hook and bait into the water.
Disgorgers: Bits of eqwiptment used for un-hhoking the fish.
Fishing Permit: This will let you fish in certain areas. You will need a fishing permit for course fishing. For sea fishing - you ussaly don't but you may need to buy one for fishing off certain piers.
Float Fishing: Useing a wooden or polystyrine float to help you catch the fish that are closer to the surface of the water.
Ground-bait: Pieces or bags of mushed meat and fish to attract the fish into your area.
Landing: Bringing the fish onto land.
Ledger / weight / bottom fishing: Useing a ball of melted lead to help you catch the fish that are closer to the bottom of the area that you are fishing in.
Lures: Shiney metal bits of tackle that are used to lure the fish into your area.
Main / mono line: The mai line coming from your reel - holding the main peices of eqwiptment such as the float.
Playing: Allowing the fish to tire itself out before bringing it onto land.
Spook: When a fish may for example see your shadow and swin away.
Striking: Sharply lifting the tip of your rod upwards to make sure the hook is firmly and securly in the fish's mouth before landing it.
Swivels: Small, metal figure of eights that are used to attach your main line and your trace line together.
Tackle: The name given to the eqwiptment used for fishing.
Tight lines: Somebody wishing fellow anglers ''good luck''.
Trace line: The smaller and weaker peice of line, attached at the other end of the swivel used for holding the hook and bait.

I hope this information helps!
Tight Lines!
