we have all gone off topic i will try and get us back on!

i think safety while fishing is important not just in sea fishing.

on the local news it said 2 teenagers had died in the knott hill resovoir (thats where i fly fish). people should pay more attention to all the dangers especially teenagers becasue they are more likely to get hurt doing somthing silly.

do you agree

Thanks. And yes - i agree.
In only the past month, only down here in Cornwall, in only sea fishing - there we're 2 addcidents:
  • The Shark Who Got Revenge: A man fishing off the shore nera penzance caught a small shark and as he went to hold it up to give it a piccy - it bit his hand off!
  • The Man Who Caught Himself: A man fishing near an estuary got snagged on a couple of rocks and as he went to sharply pull it away - it flew back at him - went into his neck and ended up just below his colerbone!
On top of this - this was just 1 month let alone a whole year. It is also just in Cornwall whitch is actully quite a small county - on top of all the big ones. This was also just sea fishing and people have had accidents whilst coarse fishing as well. And these are just the major, major accidents - there are dozens and dozens possibly hundrends of major and minor ones a month!

I'm allowd to go fishing on my own in the basic - more sfae venues like estaries but in some of the more dangerous places that i've mentioned above like piers and jetty's - i can;t go unless i'm with my older brother.
But he's alright. As long as he takes me!

Sorry to double post - i just want to emphasise night-fishing safety:
  • You must always have lighting - never turn the light off - even when your sleeping - you can dim it if possible - but not to much.
  • Especially on rocks - always have good footwear.
These basic tips and more tips in the main posts are essential for your personally safety whilst sea fishing!
