yep can be, take care this beach can be a killer.
got to watch the breakers, its a steep beach and the backwash is extremely strong,
if you get caught by a wave its very hard to get back up the shingle as some have found to their cost .

i tend to chicken out if the wind is force 4-5 or more from the south or southwest, especially if its been in that quarter for a few days, after a storm allow 2 days for the swells to settle down a bit, though it might be a bit quicker if the wind goes northerly.
don't set up too close to the high tide mark as this beach occasionally throws a rogue wave , swamped/dragged in by a breaker will def ruin your day.

not that i want to put you off chesil coz on its day it can fish extremely well,
but think of safety 1st plz, ( if its marginally too rough at portland end western marks may be better) gj.

Wind Map - Britain

forcast looks good unless it blows up sat/sun. might be a bit too flat for the codling but who knows? get the squid/lug baits out there .
i might fish it thursday night , i'll stick up a report if i do.

Thanks for the sound advice. Have spoken to some one, who said that it fishes best at dragons teeth. Any ideas where this is. My mate has fished it before, so should know what it can be like.
Know only to well what a rouge wave can do, as nearly lost all my tackle fishing off of Sandgate near Folkestone a few years ago. Took quite a bit to convince my dad that the best place to be on that day was the pub. Old fishermen never know when to quit while there still ahead!!
Hope the weather is good enough for Thursday, and look forward to hearing how you get on. Tight lines
Mark

i'll probably head for dragons teeth as well, though i'm tempted to fish the wrecks at portland end if i have cash for carpark.
to reach dragons teeth park at the beach carpark at abbotsbury & walk east towards portland till you reach a group of concrete blocks stretching over the shingle ( i think they were tank traps) its, i guess, a 10-15 minute walk depending on how fit you are.
ferrybridge carpark at portland end is metered at about a fiver for 12hours and £ 6 50 for 24 if memory serves.
abbotsbury has a carpark attendant 9am-5pm, costs about 2-4 quid i think,
unless you fish 5 30pm-0800 but he will catch you to stump up on the way out if hes there b4 you leave.

past the sub tropical gardens , large gravel/grass carpark on left just b4 the road goes right handed along the back of the shingle towards the cottages. ( i spec you'll miss the entrance and have to back up ).
at west bexington there's a tarmac carpark right on the beach , this one has parking meters , i cant remember the charges but i think theres a night rate of 50p from 9pm-9am not sure though you'll have to check the boards.

C/K, after the carpark attendant goes home there's no one to pay
but he'll charge next morning unless you leave b4 he arrives.
last time i left about 10am he stopped me and asked how long i'd been there, being cheeky i said that i must have arrived about 10 mins b4 him .
he wern't impressed and charged me anyway , never mind though thats , hes got a job to do. an i'd been there all night.

i'll have to give chesil a miss as will be working wed/thurs evening in salisbury.

tides look good for southampton /bournemouth area and as 1/2 way there might give it a shot.
