Welcome to the forum! (i know this is the 3rd or 4th time i've said that!)
STARTER KITS: My first kit was a Shakespere Begginers Kit, you can buy it off their site, but i bought mine in Trago Mills for £30. It included a 10ft/3m telescopic rod, a 20lb fixed spool reel and a starter tackle box that included 2 floats, 10 weights, 1 bell, 20 hooks (single barbed), 10 swives, 5 lures (1 wobbler, 1 tail, 1 spoon and 2 spinners), 1 boom and a discourger. I also came with a very helpfull sea fishing begginers guide book. TACKLE TO GET: For beggining in sea fishing, you will need: A couple of floats (the best ones for sea fishing are big, fat, chubby ones). A load of weights (the best ones for sea fishing are between 2oz and 8oz). A load of swivels (ussaly the medium sized - large ones). A load of hooks (ussaly the medium sized ones - double or triple barbed). A few lures (single hooked medium sized spinners are the best ones for sea fishing, i find). A few medium sized booms. A 10lb - 20lb and a 20lb - 30lb trace. A load of beads, mainly bigger ones. Lots of stop beads. A large discourger. You can then buld these up to a pro fisher wih high tide books, tip pages, extra rigs, bigger eqwiptment and multiple rods and reels. ![]() Here is a link to a GREAT page filled with rig diagrams: Sea Fishing Rigs

Quote:
a boom is a piece of plastic or wire made item that allows you to fasten the hooklink about 4" from the mainline a Disgorger is a piece of kit that helps you SAFELY unhook a fish especially if the hook is down deep
