Lure fishing in winter?

What do you all think. With fishes metabolism going down in winter making the predators more prone to taking a dead bait would you lure fish?

I always take a lure rod when i'm boat fishing, cause you just have that chance of picking the odd fish off, through a winter session. You should in my view never rule it out.
I have other friends that are good pike anglers that never even look at a lure rod this time of the year ..but i have had four pike so far to lures in Nov/Dec.. so i think its well worth taking it with you.....just slow the retrieve right down and have a lure that hugs the bottom...

lure fishing this year can show results but you don't want to be retrieving very quick as pike/perch bodys slow down which makes deadbait more favourites at winter but you wonna lure that strides across the bottom if your fishing a clean smooth ground. my pond is a very very bad bottom for snags i use a spinner,, biggest this year my mate got was a 10.5 lb not big compared to the people here catching 20lb pike (i wish i could but nowhere in my area with em...)

all you got to remember is that all natural pray fish move slower and more sluggish in winter, so all you need to do is try and mimic that by doing slow retrieves with minimum movement
