December time is a tricky time for fishing, but perch are on of the best fish to catch at that time (along with pike of course).
I tend to go for the worm option as well, you need to get the bait right in front of the fish at this time of the year because they are much less inclined to swim around for it. I had some great perch days in the summer with a small live bait, very small. It was down by the Beford river/lakes. It looks like a long way till summer now.. ![]() |

-Live bait with small roach, dace and minnows-
-Smallest trebble hooks you got hook the livebait through the back or lip- -As perch are tackle scared its advised you dont use a wire trace- -I find hooking through the back more effective as it seems "unatural" pike tend to leave this bait however it dosnt bother perch- -In the winter perch are less active and some times ignore live bait in this case use lob worms- (I find fishing close to the bottom or ledgering more effective) -"Maggot feeders" are another alternative red and white work best- GL with the perch's |
