I don't believe that strongly in lures for perch. I find that a good livebait is much better, a small minow or fry bait. Just a single fish, small hook around the 10/12 size. If you get the right location - under over hanging tree, hole etc.. it works a treat!

That will get you in trouble

With ME for a start

live baiting should be stopped dead baiting and lures is fine but using a live fish is not the way to get Angling a good press and in these days now that the Anti's have got rid of the hunters we could very well be next

As for the original question
Small lures can work so do large ones that's the beauty of Perch fishing they will attack a fish that is actually larger than themselves if that fish is in trouble

Dead baiting uses SEA FISH no one should be killing any course fish to use as predator bait
you will find that the EA bailiffs will stop you using freshwater baits especially if they believe you may have brought it from elsewhere they have the power to actually take away your tackle if they believe you have imported fish

Check out some of the predator sites and you will find 99% of the anglers do not use live bait any more and a lot never have as the oilier sea fish get better results all the time

yeah i agree there, sea fish are alot oiler and therefore in many cases work alot better . . . im sure that somewhere they breed fish to kill them and sell them as deadbait?? livebaiting to me is just the same as the cyle underneath the water!, and in some cases, wherever you put the hook, if no fish takes then you can let the bait swim free . . .

i think something shiny & noisy ...sometimes its good to use something that looks like their standard food....roach etc or even a lure that looks similar to a perch with lines on...

i think something shny like brass or even silver.....mind yoiu these are more spinners than lures

livebait is not my way of fishing i would prefer to use a mash of worms as feed then stick half a lobworm on the hook

i hope this helps
