never fished db in a stream, does it even hold big pike? best tip with selection is use fish species that are present in the stream as bait. Hook it through its lip/head and just under the dorseal fin if its a big enough bait, ledger or float or float ledger, depends on the flow.

Sorry, but you should NEVER ! hook a pike deadbait in the head....no need..............if you are live baiting its very different, as you hit them very quick, but a deadbait NO as you will 9/10 deep hook the fish...Pike swallow bait head fisrt and if you get a fish that wolfs a bait down and your hooks are in the head !!...you are going to deep hook for sure and then have to reverse its stomach to get the hooks and it aint the way its done...
Hooking the bait in the root of the tail (rod tip side treble hook) and the end treble hook half way down the body is spot on for presitation, casting and hooking the fish when you get a take.. |
