Cold Weather better for pike fishing??

im curious on other peoples idea's i have fished in warmer weather and have landed 2 pretty big pike 12lb and 15lb.. today i was fishing and it was ice cold and we never had a bite all day. Also would the pike be deeper in the colder weather? im pretty new to pike fishing although i thought i was a pro when i caught my 2 personal best but thats fishing.

The real pike experts will be along soon but
Pike tend to go deep when it's cold and as they don't expend much energy they tend not to feed as often I've seen it said that some fish will eat only once a week so you really have to annoy them in cold weather to get a response out of them
Take a noisy plug or spinner past a Pikes nose often enough then they get snappy and grab at your lure
then all hell breaks loose

Summer Pike

I Pike Fish and to be honest some of my best fishings in the summer. I find that its better sport and the ~Pike do put up a better fight and some excellent action in the summer.

Winter Piking can be good but you need good knowledge of the water, and any deep holes.

Some people only Pike fish in the winter but i think its a myth - and pike fishing can be good all year round.

There is certainly no reason why Piking shouldn't be better in the Summer, they are likely to be more active & lively. However, many waters seem to have a Pike season, traditionally 1st October onwards. I plan to do some lure fishing in the Summer in likely places for them..More likely to chase a lure when the water is warmer. That said, two members/colleagues on a Pike forum i belong to recently caught a 20lb+ Pike each on lures from a Doncaster canal!

This time of year is best without doubt. Deadbait in winter, spinning in summer produces best results for me. So either is good just depends how you aproach it.

May

Those who know more than I say May is best as the Pike have spawned and are feeding hard to increase their weight again.
