welcome to esox

best advice i can give is rods are a bargain with good kit available at £30-£50 reels okuma are great for there prics spend more on quality line and all the rig stuff buy fox giude to fishing you will learn loads and try to go with a good pike angler who can teach you that pike are a very delicate fish and how to handle them

well for starters if youbhave never fished for pike its a must that you take an experienced pike angler with you , pike may look vicious but they must be handled with care, plus you must be shown how to hold and unhook one.

as for gear for lure fishing firstly you must use a wire trace, most good tackle shops will do you a good deal on a spinning rod and fixed spool reel, as for lures try a selection spoons , plugs etc., even better ask in the local tackle shop as their bound to know which type of lures are effective on the strech your fishing on.......hope this helps.

I agree with Cavanman (welcome to the site mate ) Mick Brown and the likes will tell you loads of tips for pike in all conditions but you still definately need to go with someone who has experience with pike mate. They need as much care as another other fish despite their looks
