Hi George

Chub can be easy or bloomin' hard to catch some days the same method won't work 2 hours apart

in fast moving flows the best rig is that of a couple of swan shot on a short running link and let it bump downstream with the flow

not a good drawing but just rushed this one together for you

baits can be anything from a small deadbait through slug, maggot, paste especially cheese, to bread crust and paste

the same rig for the really fast stuff it's a very useful rig as you can add and take away shot easily

for slower stretches then a big stick float with heavy shopping
whereas for slow stuff a shirt button shotted stick

Have fished the Trent Weir Pools for Chub & Barbel, used to Quiver Tip with a Coffin lead & a 3/4" Cube of luncheon meat. Quite successful for both species, mainly chub in my case
