pike riped my line to threads

Hi all,

I’ve recently been going to my local lake ( Gilmorton in Leicester). And me and my m8s think there could be a pike in the lake.

Ever time we go there we all ways carp fish with a leisure bomb on the end of both rods. the next thing you know is the real is screaming of very quickly so we thought it was a very big carp but that wasn’t the case, as soon as I picked up the rod I felt the fish on the end but after 10 sec the fish was gone my rig and leisure bomb had disappeared I was well disappointed, when I looked at the end of the line it had been shredded to bits we was thinking that there isn’t pike in the lake so thought nothing of it...

then the same thing happened to my m8 the same real action I had went off as soon as he picked up the rod he could feel the fish then nothing, but when he looked at the line at the end the same thing happened the like was shredded that got us thinking is there pike in the lake...

week later the same think happened 3 times, so is there ne1 out there can help me to catch pike as never tried before and wouldn’t know wot to do, and wot bate would be good to use and do I need a wire trace.

it could be a pike but it could also be an eel which have teeth at the back of theeir mouths and can easily get through line. what bait are you using when this 'mystery fish' is snapping you?

if your sure its a pike then try a small deadbait ojn the bottom as and eel will also take a small deadbait.

yes you will need a wire trace but you can tie it as you would a hair rig with the same lead set up.

give it a go....you never know
