night fishing, pike + eels

hi, i'm night fishing with a best friend this saturday at his private pond, and it has mixed species but he wants the pike and eels out and there is alot of pike, so thats what i'm targeting, the pike are mainly small 1-2lb and a few eels different sizes. i probly cant ledger because the weed on bottom it is only really fishable in most places from 2ft off the bottom but it is a deep lake. any idea's on bait and how to fish apart from ledger any tips?? thanks

Well for a start I'd get him to prepare a few swims by raking the weed to give you some areas of clear bottom especially near some reeds and lilies

then for the eels a good fishy ground bait a day earlier then fish mackerel strips small ones but I'd make sure I was using a wire trace

I am surprised that as a water owner he would want to remove Pike as they are natures vacuum cleaners when it comes to diseased fish -- they are lazy feeders and so don't go for healthy fish as they are too fast to catch and if there are too many the big ones will eat the smaller ones

AND
You will NEVER get rid of the Eels if you fished every day for 7 years once there's one there's a thousand and they don't harm the water but if the water is clean they are good to eat either BBQ'ed or smoked

I've found the best rig for Eels is a ledger float so far I've never deep hooked since changing to them when fishing deliberately for the slimy so and so's
