Lol, That was a joke yanoe?!?1, Course elderberries wont catch pike!?
Seriously, find a strawberry groundbait and lace it with particles i.e corn, maggots casters
Chuck 3-4 orange sized balls in and st and wait mate, Maybe a worm on the hook
The Pike, hmmm, not really a piking guy, Although thye do have a Loving for deabaits on canals, Tend to be lazy!
Maybe just near any snag is your best bet, pike bung! Nice and easy!

Cool

Pike and Tench do both live in the canals and fishing for Tench is a lot different than fishing for Pike, Tench will always take a piece of corn over a bed of ground bait so tench fishing is relatively simple and pretty much a case of set up correctly and wait.

Now Pike are different in the summer they will leave their regular haunts an start looking for the silver fish they love to feed on, in the summer if you sit and wait with a dead bait in the margins there is a chance a Pike could swim past and take it, lures, spinners and a wobbled dead-bait are the most effective way of finding a Pike as you cover much more water with a fresher looking offering.

Remember Pike do have teeth so you will need a wire trace and a swivel on the Pike rod, also if you have never unhooked a pike before then go with someone who has.
Learn how to handle the fish or you are likely to hurt yourself as well as the fish.

I Regulary Fish My Canal For Pike, I Use A Nice Little Bright colour Lure, Or I Set A Rod Up For A Roach And Then Slap It On The Pike Hook, Always Works For Me, Remeber Your Wire Trace Though, I Was 14 When I Started Its A Great Sport. As For Tench Never Caught One In My 9 Years Of Angling But I Have Heard Red Maggot Are Good Or A Ledgerd Boillie

I've only just caught up with this thread so sorry

But If I were you I would forget about fishing for Pike at the same time as other fish especialy in Summer you really need to be mobile and stalk them this time of the year
As for baits then obviously plugs and lures
but wobbled Jack (small mackerel) and Large Sardine work just as well

Don't fish for pike unless you know what your doing with regards to handling/unhooking and have all the right gear mate, unless there's someone with you who has landed pike before. They're a delicate species despite being a predator, and deep hooking/bad handling is a serious issue amongst pikers
