pike scare other fish

i was fishing a carp lake in sussex at the weekend ....its about 4 acres with an island in the middle....over 2 days there was about 8 big carp caught on tutti frutti boilies & other weird & wonderful flavour ones.....the carp anglers where moaning that the carp are biting less due to the owners placing 15lb pike in the same lake......i was wondering what others felt
i reckon it is a large lake & the water is still quiet chilly & its more the weather than the pike

one man caught a bream on the pole & ended up landing a 15lb pike after a half hour fight

i was jealous

spot on there mate definatly the weather wich is altering the catch rate for carp anglers

the owners will put pike in a big lake so they will keep the roach, perch, bream population down which can be a pain for carp anglers as roach and bream will eat carp baits and perch because they they populate very quickly

or the owner could just be opening a new market of angling for his customers pike fishing is very popular and even more so now a days, another reason is pike are much cheaper to purchase than carp so the owner may have thought to himself there cheaper and another species to fish for !!!

but on the flip side of the coin a lot of carp fishery's don't allow trebles in there waters because fear of them wounding the carp.

pike are natural predators and most fish small enough to fit in there mouths will be scared of them and will flea when any are around but as for the big carp been put off by them i highly doubt it i'd imagine it would be the other way round big carp pushing the pike out of the swim !

Would agree with DanDanUK
Where I fished in Gran Canaria was stuffed with Large mouthed Bass the Carp were untroubled by them being there and in some of the more local normal ponds, as opposed to single species ponds, There are always Pike in and some in the 20lb range never get any inter species problems except the little one end to disappear
The only time Pike will attack a big fish is if it is sick and dying they are to much like Scooby Doo

Yeah - sometimes i think howcome they forget so easliy yet things like feeding and breeding stay in their mind? But thats', you know, cause they do it so many times - and it's natural anyway.

i dunno some fish seem to remember being caught especially on the fly, so ur techniques have to be much more refined to catch some. also the fish arent stupid in knowing where the snags are!!! but as for the pike i really doubt they could scare a fish of lets say 30lb wen they are 15lb.
