pumpkinseed look like nice fish and very colourful but i suppose the attraction would wear off after catching one for the 25th time

i couple of weeks back i caught what looked like a small perch but with out any barred markings and was more greyish in appearance someone suggested it may have been a ruffe ?

You'd be totally wragged off trying to catch pumpkinseed they rip maggots to shreds they totally destroy pastes Pinkies are just about OK for em but fake ones are better

You don't get 1 coming at your bait you get 30-40 and after a couple of minutes they realise what's up and leave any bait alone for 10-15 minutes then come back again

very VERY annoying but at least they don't go for boilies and jelly pellet even halibut ones

it was caught in the northwest about 12 miles outside Liverpool, on a large lake,
i think that it was most likely an odd perch because apart from it being more silvery and not having the usual bars it looked exactly like one

the lake as been regularly stocked and a lot of the fish in there have been brought in from other fisherys and from another large private lake close by

there are some nice blue orfe in there hopefully i will get one of those hooked one day
