a bad bad bad days fishing! you had one?
Hey guys, I was out the weekend on a fishing match at Larford Lakes. After a couple of hours of just catching the odd roach and small carp I walked down to see my dad see if he was doing any better.
One of the club members started to walk down towards us, he had brought his wife that day who walked down with him. The minute he reached us all the guys at the top end of the pool where he had come freom started screaming his name. Him and his wife immediatly started running up the bank, reminded me of the Olympic Herdals the way they were jumping over all the poles. I figured that his pole had gone in, so I took a stroll up. Apparently a big gust of wind had took his whole box in with all draws open and his pole which was on an attached rest went in too. fourtuatly the margins where only 1-2 foot deep so he got back most of the stuff which had gone. The funny thing was, he got his stuff back out, borrowed a bit of meat(all his bait had gone in) and caught a 15lb carp. :haha: Which, broke his landing net when bringing it in! :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: Anyone had any bad days like this? |

Re: a bad bad bad days fishing! you had one?
Nice story, i noticed some similarity to something that happened to me a while back,
I'd just got a membership for an estate lake stocked with big carp and tench. I had 1 rod out specifically for catching carp and a spinning rod with feeder set up for tench 8 lb line swimfeeder etc. with a cube of meat, i had the clutch right off to let them run. After an while i'd had 3 tench on meat and 0 on the carp rod, just as i was changing boilies to meat my spinning rod shot off, i tightened the clutch and struck TWANG went my line and off went the carp. Not to worry i said to myself and i put on a ledger and meat, little did i know that i forgot to loosen the clutch another half an hour still nowt on the carp rod, night was coming in and i said ten minutes left to my little bro and began packing up,then my bite alrm went off on the spinning rod, i turned around to pick it up and it wasn't there :???: i heard a splash and saw the rod get dragged down to the depths :argh: After getting snapped i was a bit down but when that happened i was sick and threw all my bait and bite alarm in. Not all doom and gloom i've been back since and had a Couple of cracking commons to 10 lbs i'm waiting for film to be developed then i'll share them with you, also i asked permission to go snorkling down there and will do that in future and hopefully get the spinning rod a nd reel back. As far as bad days go that was my worst but i've had a few when i've gone all day without a bite then at the end of the day had a run and lost BIG fish, all part and parcel i suppose Take the rough with the smooth and all that bollox! |

funny u say that nutcase but the same sort of thing happened to me. i had a run wilst nite fishing for carp and proceeded to fall over my new pod and breaking it and my rod with the carp on being pulled in the water to which i had to jump in after it. The result...... One 6lb carp, a broken pod and being soakin wet up to my armpits. I was not amused although i have laughed about it since :haha:

cant say that i have ever had a bad day quite like any of them and hope i never will :touch wood: haha
but i remember being told about what happened to some guy a while ago. so this guy had his float in the water and decided to go for a wander, but then a guy shouted to him that there are a lot of big fish in the like and could drag his rod in. so to get round this (instead of taking his rod out the water) he tied his rod to his box after hearing some shouts he got back to his peg to find out that a big carp had taken his bait, pulled his rod in which was closely followed by his box. so all he was left with on his peg was his rod bag and landing net! unlucky guy |

some of them storys ar top class, may not be that good for the person concerned tho. i have had bad days were everything goes wrong but thats about it, i did once see someone get pulled of there box with pole in hand, by a huge carp, that was very funny.

Not quite as bad but I was fishing on light tackle once. First chuck the float went straight down. Off went the fish not even giving me chance to loosen the clutch (well I wernt expecting such a big bite from one crumby bif sweetcorn) Snap went the lot - Dint even snap at the hooklink. Pissed off at having to set up again i had a fag then set about it. Went to cast and got caught in a tree behind me.
I was so pi55ed off I chucked my rod cut the line packed up and went home.Im taking my rod and im going home ![]() |
