Re: telescopic rods

The only way that has worked for me is to hold the rod upright with the bottom on the floor, then keep tapping the jammed section downwards against the bottom of the rod.

I had a telescopic rod / whip with the top section jammed. It was so thin and slippy i could not get a good enough grip with my hand to tap it downwards hard enough, so i gripped it with pliers suchioned with tissue paper and then was able to tap it till it came unstuck.

This us of course a risky procedure but i know of no other way to free stuck sections.

Does anyone know if the sections can be lubricated to make them less likely to get stuck in future? What lube is good for this?

Re: telescopic rods

I cushioned the pliers with tissue paper, gripping the rod throught he paper, and it didn't scratch the paint.

You have to tap it down quite hard, so pliers are necessary to get a good grip. Grip the top section of the 2 stuck pieces and tap it down hard so that the bottom section jarrs against the floor. The jarring will shake loose the stuck pieces.

I like telescopic rods because they are more portable and more easily carried in confined spaces, like when standing inside a crowded bus. I can stick the whole rod in my back pack and have my hands free to hold onto the bus or other things.

Don't knock'em until you tried 'em

I use a variety of tele rods for traveling (Spain, Canaries, Malta, Mexico etc) from 3 metres upto 4.5 metres and as long as you look after them they work well You can even get Carp ones now too

You have GOT to keep them clean so you don't get stuff in the joints or pull to hard and jam them
Hot soapy water is brill for easing the joints if stuck but make sure it's totally dry before you use it again
