Luncheon Meat

I always have trouble when fishing with luncheon meat. What methods do you use to keep it on the hook?

Re: Luncheon Meat

my favourite bait is luncheon meat and i had the same problem when i started. There are a couple of ways around this problem. Firstly i prepare the meat at home (cubes) and then put it in the oven for a few minutes. This causes a skin to form around the meat allowing it to stay on the hook easier. Alternitavely, instead of cooking it, just put a piece of meat on the hook so that the base of the hook is sticking out of the bottom of the bait and then stick a small blade of grass between the hook and bait (similar to a hair rig stop).

Hope this helps

Re: Luncheon Meat

this weekend i fished lower broadheath over in worcester. I had good results buy feeding a combination of blended meat and cubes then fishing a cube of meat over the top. It always good to dip your meat in ground bait or something simlar.. it firms up the outside and gives it a little more smell in the water.
