How good is meat still?

As all other baits seem to have been hammered at our local lakes, decided to try meat.... God what a treat at least 15 carp in 4 hours and lost loads as well (very snaggy) and not just small chunks huge bits og meat...greedy buggers!

Fun fishing!

Use the right size hook buy plumrose, never comes off the hook

Something to try, cut tiny tiny cubes about 3mm ?? Do a couple of tins , and then put them in a plaasti bag with some powder flavour. Shake the bag about and leave over night. Press the cubes (not too hard) into a cage feeder with one on a size 10-14 hook. Brilliant bait !

thats how i used to do my meat until i read an artical in iycf about preping meat.
if you coat it in sugar first it draws all the oils out of the meat and helps the powder flovouring to stick better.
expo groundbait if coating to use its caught me some carp receantly.

Use a baiting needle to pull the hook through the meat, that is the best way of getting it on the hook without ripping the meat apart but as SAM says your have to use the right size hook, simple the bigger the piece the bigger the hook.
Just put the baiting needle through the luncheon meat first then catch the hook with the needle and pull the hook through the meat once through just turn the hook so it does not go back out of the hole in went into, job done, one more point on this make sure the meat is not too hard other wise you will not catch anything,it has to be soft enough for the hook to pull through on the strike but not so soft that it drops off the hook....hope that helps

i always have a good session on meat. Also especially good if you marinate it in strawberry dye.
