This might have been asked before but being a new member i would like to know what you ALL rate as the best angler past or present and the reason why please, for me well i would say these...
IVAN MARKS, never knew him but from what i have read about him he was a great Angler and his little quote just about sums us all up really(just a ordinary guy that can fish a bit). Going back even more then RICHARD WALKER would come in to my mind, the man who put carp fishing on the map and set the standard of today at 44lb. IZZAK WALTON is regarded as the man that put fishing on the map in the 1500( yes it was that long ago)and he is still regarded as the all time great by many. I don't think we could go without mentioning the modern anglers though, these are the icons of today that all the young kids look up to... BOB NUDD ALAN SCOTHORNE WILL RAISON STEVE RINGER And the tv pundits that always come to mind... JOHN WILSON MATT HAYES and now.... DEAN MASSEY They all have there own little place in angling folk lore but who would you rate the best the one that influenced you the most maybe someone i have not mentioned comes to mind if so i would love to hear it,thanks ![]()

well having fished with them got to say steve ringer and andy finley, both phonomenal anglers, then andy may, keiron ritche, neil machin,
also got to give keith arther a mention as i was pegged at the side of him at a match last year and he is another good one. the older guys mine and my other halfs vote go for chris yates and bob james, anyone who can hook a 20lb carp from up a tree jump out the tree in to the lake and still land the fish has to be a very very good angler. for those who dont know what i am on about it was a tv programme called "a passion for angling" still great viewing today. |
