Home Made or Mass produced?

You like homemade fishing stuff or mass produced.

Do you prefer bait you make and find yourself or bait you buy from your shop

Thanks.

I always make ground-bait myself.
I always buy my tackle weather it be online or from the shops - never make my own.
I always find the simple biats like worms, sand-eel and crabs etc. myselfy but buy the other ones like squid, octopus and cutllefish etc.
I sea fish, by the way!

I tye 80% of my own flies it's not easy and I've loads of really old books on how to tye the perfect fly pattern

You need loads and loads of kit to do it BUT when you get that really hard fighting Brownie on a fly or lure you tied yourself that's been ignoring all the others anglers shop bought ones it's a really good day

You'll find the fly tying kits have the hardware you need

then you need a box to store everything else in

You need
long shank fly hooks
different threads - it's special stuff not sewing thread
then there are coloured varnishes (although I do use nail varnish)
then there's the feathers, Hackles (special feathers from cockerels necks), maribou, glitter, flash, tubing, copper wire, lead wire

Setting up from scratch came be expensive but also awkward best thing is to get a pattern and buy what you need for that one

This is not a promise as I've got lots of stuff on the boil at present but I will find a couple of really old patterns and re-write them on here in a new thread to help you get started
