Poachers

Ok you turn up at a lake setup for the night and then settle in.

A few hours later you see people fishing for carp. The fish they are catching do not go back into the water but instead go into a steel drum in the back of a van. What would you do?

This is a definite answer, call the police, the latest new "thing" of buying carp to eat is disgusting. Seeing them on sale is wrong, and they reckon the whole idea was from that hugh guy who does the river cottage program.

First thing call the police poaching is poaching
and the perpetrators probably haven't got a licence either

As for Eating Carp I think that you will find that a lot of our immigrants catch and eat the fish because they are used to doing it from whence they came

It's not Hugh's fault I'm afraid

Remember Carp were first stocked in this country by Monks as a food fish they are not natural UK fish even though now they are a sport fish and an expensive one to stock

your right grey its most of the immigrants that have the fish.
soon out stock will be on a down fall.
i remember a few years ago i would walk down the pier and catch a fish on every cast with a spinner etc.
nowadays out stock such as mackerel, bass etc has gone down miles!

Thanks

Kris

with sea fish it's the bloomin' trawlers that are supposed to be off-shore coming in-shore and scooping up all the under-size stuff and taking them back to Spain and Japan

i would call the police or owner of lake ;...
the closest i got to it was a white van pulled up at a venue i was at & in the back was a huge tank.....once they saw me & some other anglers they went ....but it makes you wonder if they got hold of some electrical equipment & cleared the lake out of fish overnight...mmmmmmmmm
dodgy

am i right in thinking a supermarket somewhere in the british isles was selling carp from the fish counter....

Some people just wont be happy until the sea is empty then the rivers and lakes its disgusting, it costs a lot of money and a great deal of time to set up and run a fishery and for someone to come along and empty it overnight is just dispicable.
