Question Wildlife at a pool or lake

Time to see what a caring bunch of fisherman we all are.

I was at a fishery a while back night fishing it.

Upon the break of dawn I noticed a duck that was having problems walking. After a close inspection I could see that fishing line including shot and hook was embedded in both legs to the point of drawing blood with a massive amount of swelling also. The duck was unable to run because of the amount of line that was there restricting its movement.

I informed the fishery management who didn't seem concerned at all, which needless to say I do not fish there any more because of it.

I called the RSPB who responded quite quickly and caught the bird. No communication between the fishery and the RSPB at all. That in my eyes is a bad thing to happen and shows that they are there only for making money.

Wildlife is part of the experience

this is a maggot thief at one of my local ponds

Well done i say mate, too many people turn their backs, some fisherman i think are aware of the beauty and piece and quiet of nature but if we dont help those very creatures that make our days out such a pleasureable experience then in years to come we will be fishing wondering why there are no ducks pestering us for our cakes and sandwiches.

Bravo

i find the nature experience as thrilling as the fishing..many times in the south here do i see deer walking feet away from me & they act naturally because i am still & quiet
the land we fish from shoulkd be looked after aswell ....like rubbish & fires left behind by someone else

i see a lot of times fishing lines discarded on the bank?????why cant people just take it home & let other people enjoy the tranquility & beauty our great countryside & wildlife

cheers
