Fishing hooks in the ear!

Starting fly fission soon but this applies for all types.
I was recently down one of my local fishing tackle shops and i was speaking to the guy and he said if your fishing and you get a hook in the ear you must go to hospital! He said only if its caught on a barbless hook in somewhere like the lobe you could possibly get it out ok without any probs.
Is this true and why is this!?

You can actually buy earings made out of fishing flies

it would come out no problem, the hook is prob as sharp as the needle, so would just slip right out it may blead abit i guess

If you are like me you carry a tool kit and a first aid kit

• the tool kit has wire snips for hooks
• The first aid kit has an antiseptic

IF you don't have these for barbed hooks yes you will need an A&E department

IF you do have them a visit to the doctors for a tetanus booster may be needed later


BTW MY first aid kit has a lot more stuff because I am a trained nurse
