chub flys

heya what flies do you use for chub and do you need to use a fly rod or can u just cast like your free lineing for them

Depends where your fishing I suppose, I had a great afternoon a few seasons ago on a moorland reservoir, that had a good head of chub as well as trout. I had 13 in a couple of hours.

I used a leaded, gold ribbed, hares ear nymph, with a slow retrieve. I guess you could fish a leaded nympth on a coarse rod, however you would be restricted in how far you could cast.

You could use a controller float and leave about 7 feet of leader under the float.

Why not get a cheap fly outfit and give it a go, it's not as difficult as it looks!

i fished a dry fly on the pole the other week, my god it was amazing, had loads of fish, carp, F1's, rudd and roach.
