The most depressing day of fishing ever!

Hey,

I need help, And before someone comes out with some sort of smart alec comment, No its not that kind of help, Im already seeking that!

I was fishing at Gartmorn Dam on sunday. The weather was beautiful!

The fish were rising all over the place even about 5 feet infrot of me! But i never caught a thing! I was Gutted as you ould imagine.

On my first cast i thought it was going to be an excellent day because i managed to get one on but lost it. I was using a Kate Mclaren. I tried everything that day but to no avail!

Can anyone give me some advice as to what to do on days like that? I was trying to match what was hatching around me but still nothing at all.

HELP!

I usually go down a few line sizes and try all my buzzers with a dead slow retrieve you could also try a blob fished under an indicator this mimicks daphnia or bloodworm they reckon, those days are very frustrating but if you get it right it can be brilliant, by the way im an ex bellshill man.

Buzzers! Im an old school person me! even though im 24.

Ive tried buzzers a couple of times but not really sure about how to use them. i see people uing strike indicators, i tried it and he indicator ended up next to the fly! unless the fish is really stupid i dont think they would be going for that!

Any tips you could give me for it?

Bellshill? I used to go train spotting there! hahaha maybe shouldnt admit to that!

I'm a rookie myself when it comes to flyfishing. So I'll just put down what I've heard.

Ask your neighbours (the ones that catch fish)what they are using.
Before you start fishing. Ask at the local tackleshop or where you buy a fishingpermit what kind of flies work there and how to fish them.
try different colors and sizes and patterns (duh!)

However I'm fishing I like to "spy" on my neighbours. With the exeption of the times I'm the only one not getting any fish....
