any advice on the best cheapest set up for fly fishing.......from rod to fly

i would like to have a go & i thought i would ask the forum for help

There is no REAL cheap way to start fly fishing as you really do need to have someone teach you how to cast a fly
It's not easy and it takes lots of practice when you're not fishing it regularly

find a starter kit that covers the weight of line you need to use for the water you're fishing that will be the cheapest tackle but flies are something else
Once you get teh knack tye your own definitiely cheaper but takes a lot more time

try the glasgow angling centre ive orderd quite a bit of them they have a sale on the fly fishing gear at the mo like £60 greys fly rods then you can buy a fly reel and backing for another £30 but im going to have a look at the ron thompson out fits because im going to get some fly gear soon

If you have the budget i would say you should try and book asession with a casting instructor you would benefit massively from a session and learn more than just casting, your rod and line set up comes down to where and what you are going to fish for, rivers tend to be smaller rods with lighter lines ,commercials use slightly heavier rods and lines and boats are the longest rods with the heaviest lines. Have a look around you can get some great advice on the net for fly fishing good luck hope you catch a few its my favourite way to spend the day.
