Bishtons pools, Colton

Bishtons pools, Colton (A 3 pool fishery)

2 pools have tench, rudd, perch, gudgeon and carp to 17lb+

Specimen pool has carp to just over 30lb.

Ticket prices
Adults £5 two rods
Child £4 two rods
Pensioners £4 two rods
Night fishing £10

Turn up on the day and pay on the bank. Fishery manager is friendly and full of advice.

Pool 1 is mainly fished by pole fishers who catch regular. There are 2 islands in the pool along with a few reed beds.

Pool 2 is mainly fished by rod. Has 1 island. Summer gets hectic on maggots with the tench taking bites on the drop or by maggot feeders.

Pool 3. The carp are old warriors and are use to normal tactics. The smaller carp fall to usual presentation but the bigger ones prove elusive and are hard to catch.

Rules:

keepnets must be dipped (standard).
No tiger nuts.
No boilies.
No method feeders.
Barbless hooks only.
All rubish to be taken with you as no bins are provided.

All other bait is allowed. No restrictions on line or tackle used.

Unhooking mats must be used for carp.

Facilities:
Toilets are in main farm house.

Directions:
As i live in the west midlands i can only give you the directions from Rugeley (staffordshire).

From rugeley take the A51 heading in the direction of Stafford. Keep going until you come to Wolseley brigde roundabouts. Go straight across the roundabouts following signs for the A51. As you go over the bridge to the river take the first right turn into a small country lane. At the staggered crossroads go straight across and follow the lane for about a mile. You will come across another bridge (railway this time), Take the first right turn immediately after the bridge, follow lane to the bottom. As you reach the bottom the lane will swing almost 180 degrees around follow it to the top. As you reach the top you will see a farmhouse with the pools car park on the right.

I will take some photograps of the fishery next time I go there.

Updated with an image of one pool. there is a pool to the right of the picture and the big carp pool in the background of the picture.
