i have recently just bought a pole.....i would buy a pole about 12 metres long ..so it easier to control
i would buy some pole rigs of something like ebay that had a range of 2lb line to 5lb line the main thing with pole fishing is the elastic you use so you would need a pole that had two tops to it so you can keep two different strengths of elastic ie silverfish or large carp i first started with a whip just to give me the feel of a pole & i caught some lovely cruscean carp on it good luck...i hope this helps a bit ![]()

i have some pole rigs you could buy, thay range from 3.2lb main line 2lb bottom 18's hook to 6lb main line 4lb bottom 12's hook, verious conditions coverd, thay are brand new. i am also thinking about making them my self and selling them on if anyone is intrested? you would be better of with a good 10 or 12 meter pole, not one that will brake the bank at this stage as you may not like pole fishing, the middy hotspot pole deal is about £80ish? you get a 10 meter pole, and some bits and bobs to get you goinh, the pole comes with 2 top 2's and is capable of carp bashing as well as silvers, am sure you get the elastication kits for both tops included, if your starting off it would be an idea to get the tackle shop do the elastication bit of the top 2's,
you need to diffrent sizes of elastic depending on what type of pond you fish. if its a commercial i would have one set up with an 18's or 16's elastic for the carp and one with a 12 or 10 set slacker for the rest. a good box or seat is essential as it can get abit uncomfortable when holding poles at full lenght. and a pole rest to take the strain off you back. if you want any more help pm me and i will do my best. good luck |

im a big matchman so i use the pole all the time, theyre alot better presentation on the bottom and with the elastic ranging from 2 (really weak, silvers) to 20 and yellow hydro which is equilvalent to 22 (large carp mostly) you can have great fun. they can be expansive though, the best poles come round at around 4 and a half grand but theres alot cheaper ones!
