cany any 1 tell me how to make floats? please

hi all can any 1 tell me how to make floats and wot material i will need to make them i am wonting to make some river floats for trotting.

Errr what a BIG question

for a simple trotting float you want something for the stick of the float usually-- split cane is good and heavy

then something for a body -- balsa is good

then put them together and glue with something waterproof like a PVA glue

sand and shape to what pattern you want

then paint however you want some folk even go mad and camouflage them simple black with a sight tip is fine

and add a wire eye at the bottom (optional)

then a waterproof varnish (yatch varnish is best but ******** expensive)
this all in takes about 4 days for the drying of the glue and paint and varnish

and it's cheaper to go and buy a dozen than make one

balsa for the top & that cricket bat wood ????? for the bottom whatever its called lol

Willow you mean

wouldn't use willow not hard enough lignums better if you can find it or Stainless steel if you don't want to split bamboo cane and get splinters
