mind you there is a lot of kit i need to buy to make my fishing better.

Sorry lads if i'm bein a bit old fashioned here, but its gotta be, sat by an empty pool, on an old seat box, middle of summer with an orange tipped waggler, few maggots on the hook with a load of tench bubbles in the swim. Anyone agree?

I only sea fish, but:
Either sand-eel and bait or a spinner on a float.
Second best: paternoyster rig with 3 hooks - float - ragworm, sand-eel and peeler crab!
