when fishing worm and maggots on the bottom my float didnt even dip but when i reeled in to change bait some times my maggots/worm was shredded to bits or gone,

Maybe you should fish a slider float if its a deep swim?

if you are throwing in pellets have you tried pellet paste it comes in many flavours & stays on the hook quite well....under arm cast is better
strawberry or pineapple rock
