Fishing in the winter

I have recently started up fishing again after several years and have been fishing a local pool and have had some good roach & bream and the odd crucian carp, but no big stuff yet

but as the weather is getting colder the bites seem to be dieing off and i am getting right back into my fishing and plan on fishing threw the winter.

as anyone got any tips on enticing bites in colder weather

cheers,

As fish get cold they slow down so look for smaller baits that are easy to get and eat

They are not fussy although you do find oilier baits working slightly better and in deep midwinter (like we've just been promised) you'll only get river fish to really eat Oh! and Perch

Smaller baits, lighter lines, less feed are the three tips, often better to fish abit further from the sides, the margins are often quiet in winter, fishing rivers and larger still waters is more productive.

Alot of people dont fish winter and i really dont get it, i think its a great time of year for fishing. Im out in snow and everything.

I've found using a stinker works well, all the smell of food but no free offerings, the only thing to take is that tasty bait laying there

lately ive been using the preston innovations method mould using micro pellets with a small 10mm halibut pellet hair rigged ... but only using so much as a 3inch hooklink to keep the bait as close to the fed as possible ... let me know if anyone has used this new preston method mould and how you got on please because it really worked wonders for me this year
