Coarse fishing in Cumbria- Prev fished in Australia.

Hi guys a few questions, never fished in the UK, as I am from Australia.

Back home i used to fish freshwater, catching perch and local fish. All this was done with what we call a spinning rod combo. Most of my fishing was done under a float and using live bait (worms, minnows)
I live in Western Cumbria and my questions are as follows.

What gear should i get- don't want cheap and nasty but dont want the best of the best. Whats the middle of the road where I can get a couple of rods and reels and all the gear I need for about 150? Brands e.t.c I use ebay alot and am happy to shop online.

Where can I fish?- As I said I live in Cumbria, so loads of rivers and Lakes around here, but what are the local fishing license requirements? Can I use live bait?

Yup you're right a lot of terminology is different over here
The Angling Times is a good weekly paper to keep up with trends, your best bet would be to find your local tackle shop find out prices of what he sells and ask questions here as to whether it's OK or not We all have our own ideas some folks will decry some tackle makes others will love it just watch !
